Enriching Education

The college curriculum has a high academic focus that challenges students and rewards a positive work ethic

Mordialloc College offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines academic excellence with a vibrant co-curricular program, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for its students

This includes a well managed and continuous student assessment and feedback process, and we actively implement student work submission and work quality policies. Our dedicated literacy and numeracy programs are delivering excellent results across all year levels.

An outstanding program of fostering personal development, happiness and future success is the hallmark of our approach to teaching and learning. This approach has been successful as shown by the College being ranked, by both parents and students, in the top ten per cent in the state.

Committed teachers and exceptional facilities allow Mordialloc College to deliver challenging, diverse and individualised learning programs at each year level.

Students are expected to accept responsibility for their learning and a positive homework and individual support program encourages the highest standards of achievement in every activity.

Students are encouraged to be involved in an active, team-orientated learning environment of mutual trust, respect and concern for others.

Mordialloc College is among an exclusive group of schools that belongs to the Academy of Accredited SEAL Schools. We provide the Select Entry
Accelerated Learning program (SEAL) for motivated and academically advanced students in Years 7-12.

  • Our SEAL program places particular emphasis on VCE subject selection and pathways, and University enhancement
  • Capable students in Year 10 are encouraged to select a VCE or VET subject
  • A new Sports Excellence Program for elite athletes in Australian Rules football, basket ball and netball.

Our agreed approach is called ‘Quality Learning’.

All staff engage in Professional Learning that has an explicit focus on improving student outcomes. Our research informed approach supports staff to develop positive & productive learning environments that deliver:

  • Improved learning outcomes
  • Greater engagement
  • Increased responsibility for their learning
  • Better relationships with teachers and peers
  • Higher levels of cooperation and trust.

A Year 7–10 literacy and numeracy intervention program ensures that all students have the opportunity to develop and achieve their best.

Our learning program also includes Science, Digital Technologies, Humanities and a broad range of specialist subjects including French, Japanese, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Design and Technologies and Physical Education.

In addition to the core subjects of English and Maths, our choice-based electives provide pathways to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the Vocational Major (VM) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) or further study or employment

Collaborative partnerships between staff, students and their families are strengthened and the career resources and qualified counsellors add considerable depth to the Years 11 and 12 student guidance program.

A dedicated senior study centre and specialist VCE teachers provide personal support and supervised independent study sessions.
