Our College is recognised as a state leader in teaching and learning, student relationships and wellbeing

We create a safe social and physical environment which helps all our students learn and succeed. I am pleased to report that our dedicated approach to teaching and learning is seeing real benefits for our students.

Our student body is above the state average in all measures of NAPLAN, performing well in Writing, Reading and Numeracy.

All 2022 Year 12 VCE students applying for a tertiary placement were successful, with the majority getting their first preference. I would like to congratulate our 2022 Year 12 VCE and VCAL students on achieving excellent results in their studies.

Some highlights of our Year 12 VCE achievements include:

  • 12.5% of students achieved an ATAR in the 90’s, 17.9% of students scored in the 80’s (30.4% of the cohort above 80) and 19.6% of students scored in the 70’s, equating to 50% of our cohort scoring an ATAR above 70. Thus, 50% of our cohort were in the top 30% of the State!
  • A median study score of 30

Despite the challenges of the past three years, these results demonstrate anything is possible with the support of our fantastic school community of teachers, students and parents, maintaining a positive mindset throughout and putting in consistent effort over the year, always striving to achieve a personal best.

As a leading co-educational public school in the City of Kingston and surrounding areas, we emphasise developing and maintaining positive relationships. We focus on getting to know each student as an individual. This personal approach ensures we provide individual support and access to opportunities that are suited to each student’s areas of interest.

Parents and visitors compliment us on the warm and orderly school atmosphere and our strong sense of community. We encourage all our students to develop high expectations of themselves, their work and their behaviour, which is an expression of our values of Personal Best, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility. Our students are engaged and enjoy coming to school. There is a genuine sense of community among teachers, students and parents, which we are all very proud of.

Our approach involves working with parents to meet the individual needs of every student and supporting them to fulfil their academic and co-curricular goals and dreams. The broad range of opportunities and pathways offered in the Senior School, including VCE – University Pathway and VCE – Vocational Pathway, cater for the diverse interests, needs and abilities of our students. Over the past ten years we have had consistent success, with all Year 12 students who applied for a tertiary placement being successful.

As one of the few accredited schools to provide the SEAL program (Select Entry Accelerated Learning) and part of the exclusive SEAL Academy, the College offers support for advanced learners.

In 2020, we launched our Sports Excellence Program (SEP) for our 2020 Year 7 students who were successful in their application to participate in either the Netball, Basketball or AFL program, with our elite coaches onsite. This program continues in Years 7-10 this year.

In 2019 I was honoured to win the most prestigious award in public education, the Lindsay Thompson Award for Excellence in Education, along with the Most Outstanding Secondary Principal award. In 2020, our Directory of Literacy Improvement, Andrew McConchie, won the Most Outstanding Secondary Teacher award and he also won the Lindsay Thompson Award for Excellence in Education. These were exceptional achievements and recognition for the College – it is the first time in the history of these state-wide awards that a school has won the highest accolade in public education twice.

In a world that rewards perseverance, resilience, initiative, problem-solving and cooperation, our students leave well prepared for tertiary education, vocational training or employment. I am proud of the significant accomplishments of our students and the results our College has achieved in being a better choice in education.
